East Kilbride Rotary Club
Out with the old and in with the new was the agenda at the Rotary Club of East Kilbride handover dinner last Thursday evening in the Bruce Hotel.
Rotarians, wives and guests came along to congratulate retiring President David Brown on his year in the chair and welcome in the new president, Archie King.
Before relinquishing the chain of office David thanked all the members who helped make it a good year and in particular his wife, Gail.
In summarising his year some of the events which deserved mention were the Golf AMAM which raised £5200 divided between EK Dementia Care at Pine Crescent and the toys for KidS fund, Calderglen clean up with a local school, the annual Primary Schools Burns Competition in its 23rd year, High School Youth Speaks competition and assisting with the Philipino disaster aid collection in East Kilbride Town Centre.
Upon acceptance of the position of President, Archie King, a retired teacher from Claremont High School, introduced his new team of President Elect, Ian Macperson, Junior Vice President Bruce Gunn, Secretary John Cardno and treasurer Ian Craig.
His program for the year to June 2015 will be to continue with all the club activities and initiate some of his own ideas.
2015 will be a very active period for the club as it will celebrating its 50th anniversary.
